LED relamping and energy audit of a production site

The problem

The company called us for a relamping quote. Before designing anything we asked to measure actual consumption for a fortnight, because the savings printed in a catalogue rarely match what a real production hall delivers.

What we did

The measurements showed the lighting running at full output even in departments used on one shift in three. Relamping on its own would have improved things, but it would have left the larger part of the saving on the table.

So we designed the replacement of all 340 fittings alongside zoning with presence detection and daylight-linked dimming in the bays with rooflights. We also handled the application for the incentives available at the time.

The outcome

Lighting energy down 63%, against roughly 45% from changing the fittings alone. Illuminance on the working plane went from an average of 210 lux to 400 lux, with far better uniformity.
