A small studio, deliberately
We are a small team of engineers. The person who answers the phone is the same person who signs the drawings and turns up on site.
New Project was founded in Martellago, just outside Venice, on the view that building services design is a trade of accountability rather than volume. We sign every drawing that leaves this studio, and that governs how many jobs we take on.
Most of our clients are businesses in the Veneto: industrial units, office buildings, self-consumption solar installations and — increasingly often — modernisation of thirty-year-old installations now being asked to carry loads nobody designed them for.
A job almost always starts with a site visit and ends with a commissioning test. In between come the calculations, the drawings, the applications to the authorities, and the hours on site checking that what was built matches what was drawn. It is the least visible part of the work, and the part that shows ten years later.
We do not install. That means when we recommend an approach or a component, there is no margin of ours to defend: the design goes out to tender among contractors, and the client compares quotes against the same technical basis.

We come and look. We work out what is already there, what is actually needed, and what constrains it — available capacity, space, permits.

We establish whether the job can be done and what it costs, before money goes into detailed design.

Detailed design
Calculations, drawings, quantities and specifications — the document that lets you get comparable quotes from several contractors.

Permits
Approvals
Grid connections, fire service, GSE, earthing notifications. The part that most often stretches the programme if it is not started early.

Site
Supervision and sign-off
We check that what gets built is what was designed, test it, sign it off, and hand over the as-built documentation.
